Dennis and I watched the movie, "Julie and Julia" last night. We give it a thumbs up. It made me want to get in the kitchen and cook up a storm. I hope to find a used copy of her cookbook at Mr. K's.


This morning I cooked up Jean's Homemade Mustard and put it in the Weck jelly jar I received from Germany. I love the shapes of these canning jars and the lid system. They can be seen on line at http://www.weck.com/.


Homemade Mustard


makes 1 pint


3/4 cup sugar


1 cup cider vinegar


2 oz. dry mustard, less if too strong


4 eggs


Mix first 3 ingredients. Beat 4 eggs and add graduallyt to the misture, beating out lumps. Cook until desired thickness, about 5 - 7 minutes.


I made half a recipe this morning. I cooked it in a double boiler. Some of it will be used in a mustard sauce for tuna loaf.
